A Legacy of Education, Service, and Compassion

ESB Foundation carries forward a legacy rooted in education, philanthropy, and family support. Through mentorship, community programs, and compassionate service, the foundation works to expand opportunity for underserved youth, strengthen stability for families, and help children pursue safer, brighter, more independent futures.

Our Vision

The vision of the ESB Foundation is rooted in a legacy of education, service, and compassion inspired by Ali Esfahani and carried forward for new generations. We believe every child deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and live with dignity, stability, and hope. Our work is guided by the belief that children from underserved communities, especially those without strong family support, should have access to meaningful educational opportunities and the resources needed to build independent lives. Through financial assistance, mentorship, and community-based programs, we aim to strengthen families, expand opportunity, and restore a sense of direction for youth facing difficult circumstances. By honoring this legacy, ESB Foundation seeks to create a future in which more children and families can thrive with confidence, support, and lasting opportunity.

Our Mission

ESB Foundation serves underserved youth and families through high-quality programs designed to support education, mentorship, stability, and personal growth. Our mission is to help create stronger living conditions in communities by investing in children and young people who need guidance, opportunity, and consistent support. We are especially committed to addressing the needs of vulnerable youth, including those aging out of foster care without the preparation or resources needed for adulthood. Through structured programs, educational support, and caring adult role models, we work to help young people build life skills, pursue their goals, and move toward greater independence. At the heart of our mission is a commitment to compassion, responsibility, and long-term impact, made possible through the support of donors who share our vision for future generations.

Our Story

The story of the ESB Foundation begins with a legacy of education, service, and philanthropy inspired by Ali Esfahani, the grandfather of Co-Founder and President Shari Brown. Ali Esfahani earned the title Sharif Ololama while serving as tutor to Ahmad Shah Qajar, the last Shah of the Qajar dynasty. The title reflected his role as both educator and trusted advisor, and his work emphasized learning, leadership, and civic responsibility through a deep understanding of both Eastern and Western thought.

Ahmad Shah Qajar became Persia’s first constitutional monarch at the age of twelve and remained committed to the principles of constitutional governance. In recognition of Sharif Ololama’s dedication and service, he was honored with land grants and royal distinction, and his name was preserved in royal records as a respected teacher and mentor. Inspired by this heritage, the Sharifololama Foundation was later established to support orphanages and expand educational opportunities for children from low-income families. These early efforts laid the foundation for a broader mission centered on compassion, education, and family support.

As this mission grew internationally, the ESB Foundation was established in the United States to continue and expand that work for new generations and communities. While those original philanthropic efforts remain an important part of the foundation’s heritage, ESB Foundation represents the next chapter: carrying forward the same values through modern programs designed to address today’s social and educational challenges.
